Sycamore is a founding member of the Western Sun Conference. The school is a full member of the Illinois High School Association. Its mascot is the Spartans.
The school has two IHSA champions. The 2003 Girls Bowling team won the only class, and the 2007 Boys Cross Country team won Class 2A. The 2004 Boys Soccer team was state runner-up in Class 1A, and the 2007 Girls Volleyball team placed third in Class 3A. The boy's football team got to the quarterfinals in 2009. In 2010 and 2011 the Spartans Rugby-Football Club have held the Boys Tier 2 Championship in Rugby. [3] However, Rugby is not a sanctioned sport by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) [4] and does not receive funding from the school; they continually fund-raise through various events.
